So I have an iphone 3g which was 4.2.1 ios but downgraded using this tutorial

Now I'm having problems updating to ios 6 whited00r which was my original plan

Also I'm having problems getting to the DFU mode on my phone which I can't seem to do after numerous tutorials.

So as of right now I'm stuck. If i can't get it to ios 6 is there a way to get it back to the regular 4.2.1 ios?

PS I'm new to this and have very little experience.

Whited00r has a higher chance of being detrimental to your device than good for your device particularly if you're not experienced in managing it. It does not allow for application support that requires iOS 4.3+ anyways, so having it is just a larger burden on your device. If iOS 5/6 was not released for the 3G, there's a reason for why.

Make sure your device is plugged into your computer, which has iTunes installed and the device driver for your device installed (done by plugging your computer after installing iTunes). Then follow the instructions.

To get it back to 4.2.1, simply open up iTunes, put the device into DFU mode, and click the Restore button.

Is there a simpler way to get into DFU mode i've tried making the "Enter DFU" for 3.1.3 through redsn0w but when i run it i get an error and a recovery mode screen

Which error are you getting. And what's the complete IPSW's name that you're using.

As of right now it is Iphone 3g 3.1.3 Restore i downloaded from a torrent due to connection and the error i'm getting is 1015

1015 is a baseband issue. I'm assuming your device is on the iPad Baseband?

It's best to download IPSWs using the official links as torrents may be tampered with.
