Iphone 3g no wifi

Hi all I'm new to this forum and would like some help if possible . I just bought a second hand iPhone 3G and I can't seem get wifi on it. When I go into the settings where wifi is it's grey and don't let you press it I'm confused. Thanks every1

I believe your iPhone's wifi chip is broken. You could try restoring though, sometimes that'll fix wifi problems.

Ok thanks mate I will try restore not sure how it wifi would break tho :s
