Iphone 4 gets facetime over 3G

Is it just me or is something suspicious ? I had an update for carrier on Rogers Canada I updated it and now it's 13.1 all a sudden they give me an option to facetime over 3G now ... I've tried it and it works ... Anybody else able to facetime over 3G on the iPhone 4 ??? Or is it just me ? Yes I'm running an iPhone 4 and not jail broken either

Not complaint at all just thought I'd let people know and to see if there iohone 4 can use facetime over 3G

Cause I had iOS 6.0 and it didn't but I updated to 6.0.1 an it works now lol

Ok, lets put this one in the proper context.

1) iOS version has nothing to do with this (in the long run but you must be on a 6.x).
2) The iPhone in question doesn't matter (as long as it has a front camera).


What changed is the provisioning by your cellular provider. They had asked Apple to block the feature when it was introduced in iOS 6. In fact a LOT of cellular providers did. Now that they (the providers) have had time to test it, certain providers are now allowing Apple to patch their specific provisioning file to allow it to happen.

It really is that simple.

Good news for those who use facetime on the road, but personally I do not use facetime unless I am at work or home so it won't matter to me.

I use an iPhone 4 on 6.0.1 and I cannot use FaceTime over 3G on Verizon. When i try to FT when im not connected to wifi it brings up a message telling me i must be connected to wifi.

Have you looked at Settings >Facetime > Use Cellular Data ?
Maybe it needs turning on in there

You are on a legacy data plan. Most likely unlimited. You can only use FaceTime over cellular if you are on a shared data plan.

I'm not unlimited...I have a 2gig plan but I am not on a shared plan. I didn't realize the type if plan would have anything to do with it.
