I currently have an iPhone 4 32gb firmware 4.0.1 and baseband 1.59.00 that I would like to restore.

I've downloaded the 4.0.1 firmware for the iPhone 4 and tried to do a restore via iTunes but keep getting an error 3194. What can be causing this? I used to do this all the time but am now having trouble.

Thanks.

try adding 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host it will work as long as cydia has a backup of your shsh

Before restoring you need to save your SHSH's via cydia or tiny umbrella. You will also need to put your phone in DFU mode. As said if using the cydia option you need to add the line to the bottom of the host file after opening it in notepad.

Tiny umbrella will do it all it's self. Ask it to save your SHSH's after plugging your phone and then start the tiny umbrella server. Then you can restore in iTunes. If you get an error like 1004 or 1013 after restoring don't worry its normal. Just use tiny umbrella to kick it out of recovery...
