Iphone 4 Version

Hi,

I have been waiting patiently (like the rest of you) for a untethered jailbreak for Iphone 4 4.2.1.
I have had my iphone 4 pretty much since they were released, but updated without ever saving shsh, and only realised the jailbreak potentials once updated to 4.2.1.

However I plugged my iphone 4 into pc other day and itunes auto opens, but I never pressed anything to update.
But where my iphone states:
Version: 4.2.1
It now says version 4.2.1 (8C148)
but as per pic on link below tinyumbrella says something about 4.3 I am confused

Will this prevent me from using the new Greenposi0n RC5 untethered JB (Windows when released)?

Welcome,

If you had a mac then you would be able to jailbreak untethered using the new greenpoision. So when they port it to windows it should do the same thing...

Ta. So the fact is my version is still 4.2.1 and iTunes hasn't updated to another version given the title in the brackets?

4.3 isn't released to the public yet. It's still in beta. That's why it's 4.3b2 (beta release no. 2) Tiny umbrella has managed to get you SHSH's for it because apple are still signing that firmware. You don't need to be on a firmware to get SHSH's for it.

As long as you don't update your phone when 4.3 is officially released then the windows jailbreak will work when it comes out. iTunes won't automatically update you phone. It will ask you first.

Dont worry to much if you do end up updating. There is already an untethered 4.3 jailbreak out. The devs are waiting for a final release so apple don't close the hole in the beta stages...
