A there a way to put the lock screen on the iPhone while on a phone call ?

Yeah it's possible, press the power ON/OFF button while on a phone call and it will lock the screen while the call is ongoing. To stop the call, you will have to unlock the call and press "End" on the calling screen.

Okay.. cool.. But, again, I ask the question - why would you want to do this?? The phone goes dark and untouchable the moment it's to your ear - so there's no danger of hitting any buttons with your cheek or anything. What the 'reason' why someone would 'want' to do this?

Some people's case makes the proximity sensor not work correctly. (Like the otterbox defender in some cases).
So this would be a good fix for them.
