iPhone 4S - Hactivate, jailbreak and unlock??

Hi,

Please could someone help me. I recently bought an iPhone 4s which is currently locked to vodafone. I would like to unlock it to use with my o2 sim.

Is it possible to activate it without the vodafone sim and then jailbreak it so I am able to unlock it to use with my o2 sim.

If so what steps would i need to take?

You can either jailbreak or unlock your device first, neither depends on the other though generally you'd just jailbreak it first since the unlock is fairy simple. More in-depth details for unlocking below. Match your baseband with the chart to see whether or not your device is unlockable. The 4S is only unlockable with Gevey Ultra SIM but does require a baseband.

To jailbreak, use Absinthe. Do NOT upgrade to iOS 6 because it's not supported by Gevey or any jailbreaks.
