iPhone 4S home button not working

Suddenly home button not working at all. None of the quick fixes helped. Have googled and found excellent repair info, but have one question. Do I need to replace the the home button CABLE, or the BUTTON. Or both. I'm thinking I only need to replace the cable assembly but just want to make sure. And I'm an eye surgeon so yes I'm handy with my hands. Thanks in advance

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But in this case, since they're within the vicinity, you can replace both while you're at it
