iphone 4S imessage help

I receive all text messages, but from other ios users that text me with the imessage, i do not receive them. Can anyone help me with what settings i may have wrong.

When i go to settings, messages, receive at, caller id, my number is selected.

Basically, what you're going to have to do is initiate an iMessage chat with your email as your contact instead of your phone number. Then all your devices where your phone number is unavailable and your email is the primary identifier (iPad, iPod Touch, etc.) will receive and sync the messages along with the devices where your phone number is the primary identifier and the email secondary (iPhone).

Does that make sense?

So do to this, when someone sends you an iMessage, close it and write them back from your iMessage account via your email address. I don't know how to do this, but a google search should bring it up right quick.
