So by now the iPhone 4S has launched in countries all over the world, including on the East and West coast of the US. Initial reports and unboxings are coming in thick and fast, as the days events unfolded. MacRumors has a very good round-up, with including a report from the record line of 778 people outside the store in Regent Street, London, where a poll found that nearly half the crowd was upgrading from iPhone 4 to the 4S, and 35% were buying their first ever iPhone. 37% of those polled outside the Regent Street store said that the new 8-megapixel camera was the standout feature of the new phone, with Siri coming in second at 34%. Interestingly though, 33% of the crowd in London thought that Siri was a gimmick rather than something useful.
Elsewhere, MacRumors reports that it seems that the launch has been so successful that people are having trouble activating their new phones, with Apples servers really struggling to cope with the demand. As with the launch of iOS 5 earlier in the week, I think its just a case of keep trying and keep patient!
Finally rounding up the launch news, MacRumors also confirms that the entire death grip issue that beset the iPhone 4seems to be well and truly laid to rest, after several users have already carried out early tests.
