With the rumour mills grinding about the next iPhone, when will it be released? what it will have or not have, what are you all hoping for? personally i am hoping for a larger screen.

Apple must know that everyone wants a larger screen, surely this time we will get one.

Larger screen and full t-Mobile support.

i wouldn't hold your breath for getting it officially on T-Mobile...

Besides why would you want to do that? that's like buying a Ferrari and putting a Honda civic motor in it.

but yeah it would be nice to see a 4+ inch screen.

Ok, the next iPhone WON'T be the 6th Generation. It will be the 5th Generation. Apple only upgrades generations when there is a change in the CPU or GPU. The iPhone 4S is literally labeled as 4,1 in the iOS SDK to reflect that it was the 4th generation device.

Now, as for a bigger screen, Apple has made Retina it's calling card. Which means Apple only has a couple of choices. A 3.8" display which will bring the iPhone down from its current 326 PPI (3.5") to 300 PPI. Which is about the closest I think they will want to drop because of how close we hold the phone to our eyes. The other option is to make the next iPhone a 1024x768 display at 4.3". This would keep the PPI well within the 300+ PPI needed for retina and also keep iOS developers from having to deal with a new coordinate system. As long as Apple can deal with a few text rendering issue I foresee, this is a very viable option.

There is a wild card third option. A new display type that will allow Apple to keep the 960x480 display and go to a 4" screen and still be able to call it a Retina display. I have no direct evidence this could happen but it is a hunch I am watching for in SEC filings and manufacturing reports.

LTE should be a shoe-in. Chip makers are finally able to make it in the form factor and power range Apple requires.

Better forward facing camera is probably a shoe-in.

NFC chip is a 50/50 shot. If Apple can get some good contracts in place it will be 100%.

A better dual band antenna design is probably a 75/25 shot.

After that I believe everything else will be "cosmetic". I don't see a curved glass iPhone happening. There might be an aluminum back this time around. Gorilla Glass 2 is a shoe-in. A notification LED is a complete wild card, but I have my hopes.

iOS 6.0 is the big question of the day for me. I believe if NFC, notification LED and a switch to a 1024x768 screen it is a shoe-in. If only NFC is added, then it is a 50/50 shot if that.

some call it 5th generation others the 6th,i expect that if i had entitled the thread "iPhone 5,5th generation iPhone"(and i almost did)someone would have said no its the 6th,so there you go,another thread there i think.

How do you use the iPhone on Straight Talk? I saw a video that involved phylsically altering a sim card, installing additional software, etc. The how do you get a S/N that will register it on Straight Talk? Does straight Talk care? If they did, they would provide the transition procedure.

please stay on topic.

Gorilla Glass would be amazing. I'm sure no one likes carrying around such a fragile device. Possibly the most fragile one yet. One drop and you're done.

Would love to see that addition.

a metal back would be good.

Yea I'd love that too. And BETTER reception; it's a phone in the end!

well - as the title of this thread, this is a rumour as of now, but we all expect a big change in the upcoming iphone so wait & watch.
