Does anybody know when the iPhone 5 will be available at full price, no contract?
Verizon shows the prices but they're kind of grayed out. The Chat person told me I could preorder it now which obviously was not so.

I'm from Canada and all iPhones sold by the Apple online store in Canada are sold unlocked. I have a no contract monthly plan.

Meteor Ireland has it already on pay as u go plan no contract,I took this picture

I bought my vzw iPhone 5 full price at best buy. They should sell it to you at the no commitment price.

Wow, that's news to me. I just don't like buying from Best Buy.However if they're selling it, the others won't be far behind.
Also, what's the difference between "no commitment" and "unlocked" when I buy directly from Apple?

Someone may need to correct me but no commitment means your not signing a new contract and unlocked means sim unlocked ie can take SIM cards from other providers. My Verizon one is sim unlocked due to FCC rules.

Looks as if Apple prefers to be paid in €

You need to buy a Verizon one ... Non verizon ones won't worn on Verizon

Thanks, I assumed there was some difference.
So if Verizon is sim unlocked, you should be able to take it to Europe and buy a Sim card for local use? Assuming that works, then one should be able to use an AT&T Card in a Verizon iPhone 5 and vice versa?

Yes to your first question, you can use the Verizon one in europe with a local sim card without a problem.

Using a AT&T Sim in a Verizon iPhone 5 should work as well, but not for LTE, only HSPA+

The AT&T iPhone 5 does not have CDMA or LTE on the bands verizon operates on, so even if you were to get an unlocked AT&T iPhone, it will not work on VZW

Unlocked means that you can activate it with any cellular carrier almost anywhere in the world, no commitment means that it's locked but not under contract, and you can request that it be unlocked.

Thanks for all answers I received. I think I'll wait till Apple sells the unlocked 5 here in the States.

I tried to reply to the Thread, but the Send button stayed grayed out! Wonder why?

It's a glitch caused by the iOS 6 update. If your post is only one line long, hit the return button on your keyboard and the send button will activate. If the post is more than one line long, the send button activates as soon as you start the second line of your post.
