iPhone 5S and iPad no longer syncing text messages

What's up with that?

The iPad is a year or so older than the phone device but for the longest my text messages showed up on both.

Then it stopped and given my crazy work schedule and a move from one city to another over the summer, I'm not really sure when.

Both are on iOS 9.1

Messages are set to "keep forever."

On your iPad: is your telephone number checkmarked in Settings - iMessage - Send & Receive?

On your iPhone: in Settings - Messages - Text Message Forwarding, make sure the iPad is enabled.
