Instead of jamming a ton of pixels into the new phone (I'm looking at you Nokia), they made the pixels bigger. The new camera has been completely redesigned. The camera now has a large, f 2.2 aperture, and a 15% larger active sensor area that is going to capture better, higher quality photos than ever before. 8 mega pixels of goodness, as well as a much better flash.

With so many of us taking more photos than ever, the software has also been designed to take full advantage of the camera. The camera app will set the white balance and exposure, and creates a "dynamic local tone map" and "autofocus matrix metering" with 15 zones automatically.

The camera itself comes with a new dual-LED flash, one which is cool and white and the other is warm and amber. The iPhone 5S will combine the two to try and get the best color balance from the flash.

HDR gets a bit of a real world use as the phone takes multiple photos, and picks the sharpest image. I wonder if you will be able to get those same artistic instagram worthy blurry photos that we are used to. With the new camera, comes an impressive 10 frames per second burst mode for action photography.

Video sees a huge bump with 120FPS 720p quality slo-mo recording.
