Iphone 5S will not give message notification

All of a sudden my iphone 5s will not give me the audio notification or vibrate on messages. I have checked all the settings as well as boot the system...Anyone got a clue?

Check your Mute button. Make sure you don't see the coloured part that should be hidden below it.

Also, take a look at your messages. If they have a moon next to them, Do Not Disturb is turned on for these contacts.

Thanks for the reply...I did find the moon on my messages...don't know how it got there because I didn't select it...fixed...kudos!
