iPhone 5speakers

Just found out that almost all of the sound comes out of the right speaker (NOT the one next to headphone jack). If I put finger over this speaker can barely hear anything. Is this normal???

And if so how does this allow a good stereo sound.

There is only one speaker. The other side is a microphone. There is no stereo sound. Only mono.
