iPhone 6s will not open email links

My iPhone 6s cannot open any link in a email or message. There is no feedback as to the problem, it just will not open the link. I have cleared all apps running, rebooted my phone over and over. I am running iOS 11.4.1 and use Chrome as my browser.

I cannot find anything out there to show that disabling hyperlinks is even possible in mail

Have you turned off the Safari browser? Links in email and messages on the iPhone are opened in Safari by default.
