Not long to wait now until the next iPhone is unveiled on September 7, and well-sourced KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has just issued a very detailed report about the iPhone 7, including a couple of details that are new, writes MacRumors.
Kuo notes that the new phones will come in 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB versions, and that the iPhone 7 Plus will have 3GB of DRAM, which is required to support the dual-lens camera, whereas the regular iPhone 7 will have the usual 2GB of DRAM.
As far as the colour choices are concerned, Kuo says that we will see the return of the silver, gold, and rose gold versions, with space gray replaced by dark black. An additional glossy piano black, or space black, option will also be available. This ties in with the photo of the five SIM trays that we reported on last week.
Kuo says that the new phone will have much improved IPX7 water resistance, the same as that of the original Apple Watch. This would mean that the phone is protected from splashes, showering, and also being dipped into water up to 1 meter in depth. This should make all those “iPhone torture” videos even more entertaining than usual!
Kuo also reveals that the earpiece receiver will become a second speaker, complete with new audio amplifier. This means that the second speaker will be in a better position for stereo sound than if it was sited in the empty space left by the removal of the headphone jack.
