iPhone battery drops down with 30‰

Hello, I have an iphone 3s. When the battery goes to 30‰, it drops down to 1‰ and turns off??

I had the same issue with my old first generation iPhone. I would then turn it on and it would read something like 25%. Not sure why it did it though.
