I have never owned an iPhone before, never even used one. In fact, I've never owned a single Apple product in my life. I was recently given an iPhone 4 (GSM) just to play around with by a friend. He switched to Android, I was curious, so he gave it to me. He gave it to me with iOS 7.1 installed and from the reading I've done, it is currently impossible to jailbreak iOS 7.1 due to patches being released in this update. I thought I'd just downgrade to the previous iOS version, but apparently that is not possible either anymore. Since I am not an expert on the iPhone, I figured I'd ask some people who are more informed than I am if that is correct.
I did read a little about how it may be possible to jailbreak an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1 in the future, but like I said, I don't know much about it at the moment.
