Apparently, there is such a thing as an angry Apple customer. The tech giant has recently agreed to pay up to $53 million following a lawsuit filed against the company by customers who werent able use their product warranties.
The settlement is not yet final and is waiting to be approved by a judge in San Francisco, but everything is as good as done. Wired reported that Apples chief litigation counsel, Noreen Krall, signed the papers this week. However, Apple doesnt see what it did wrong.
Customers who were involved In the lawsuit reported having problems with the first iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and first, second an​​d third generation iPod Touch. When the settlement is going to be cashed in, it is going to be divided equally amongst the plaintiffs. The average pay for each is estimated to be around $200.
Apple devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch usually have a white indicator tape embedded within them. The problematic devices didnt have a white tape anymore, as theirs turned pink or red due to the gadgets being exposed to water. This can be interpreted as humidity might have affected the devices in question. Think of a hot summer day when you exit a building, air conditioning has been on all day? Could this also be a factor?
So far, Apple has declined to make any comment about the settlement, but details should surface soon.
