iphone itunes store keeps asking for password

I'm new to the iphone 5S. I have been recently been getting a message that is asking me to enter my itunes store password. It happens several times in a minute or it may happen once a day. I don't believe I changed anything in the configuration of the phone. Can some one please help me? The apple forums are useless. Thanks for your help in advance.

Go to settings>iTunes and apps store>automatic downloads. Turn them all off. See if it still happens. It's possible you have an app that's trying to update. I would also turn off auto update for apps as well. Settings> general> background app refresh>off
