Iphone messages keep disappearing when phone switch off

Hello I recently upgraded my software when prompted to IOS 9. something on my 5C.

I get no notifications of a new text and every time I switch my phone off all my text messages disappear completely from my inbox. When I send one it says sending 1 of 9 for example depending on how long my text thread is.

Does anyone know how to solve this please?.
