Iphone (people can't hear me, can't hear people)

I can't hear people on my iphone. and can't be heard by people while on the phone.

Although when i'm using voice messenger app i can record messages and send them.

A friend had a 4 that he could record audio, and talk normal on phone but could not talk on speakerphone (no one could hear) but was able to hear on speakerphone. Turns out one mic didn't work and Apple Store replaced his phone.
