i knicked this part when i was repairing the screen, anybody know what it is or where to find it? do i need a new logic board? $IMG_4263 copy.webp

The picture isn't clear enough to determine what type of discreet component it is. But odds are a "nick" isn't going to keep the device from working. Especially if the component is a resistor or diode. Now if it is a micro capacitor, then there could be an issue with nicking it.

So have you tried firing the phone up?

phone works fine except for the back camera :/ it won't work

Just took a quick look with Google images. Need to confirm that is in fact a 4S motherboard that you have pictured.

I found a slightly better picture of that square black object you have circled. I don't believe it is a capacitor. So that leaves it to an IC chip, resistor, diode, clock or power transistor. If the nick is only at surface level, didn't expose anything and you didn't cut one of the solder points, then I believe you issue is probably a loose connection and you need to back track, double check all your surface connections and grounding points.

if it is one of these (IC chip, resistor, diode, clock or power transistor) where do you think i can get them online?

You don't. None of the pictures I found have it labeled. Which means you would be part off ordering a new motherboard than trying to spend a week tracking down what it is. Plus to resurface mount the device requires training and special soldering gear. Which I am going to guess you don't have. Heck, I have the training and even I don't have the needed gear.

So go with a new MB if you really need that camera working and you have exhausted checking all your connections, cables and ground points.

do you think this is it? where could i find a new MB ? if this is not it i have a brother who can do the soldering for me he knows a lot about iphones unfortunately he is on a honeymoon right now :(( lol but if that link is correct i will buy it and ask him to do it

Dang! If that is the chip, nice find. But if you take a look at the bottom of it you will see the 4 solder points. Notice they have to connect directly with the motherboard. I doubt your brother has the gear to solder that type of mounting.

And try ifixit for/to get the motherboard.
