The iPhone had a totally storming last quarter according to a report from Cnet today about new shipment figures from Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty, who says that Apple’s iPhone shipment figures for the calendar second quarter could top 29 million. Should this figure prove to be accurate, or even close to accurate, it would be even higher than the consensus Wall Street estimate of 26.5 million.
“Demand data from our AlphaWise Smartphone Tracker and US Telecom analyst Simon Flannery’s estimates, and supply chain checks by our Asia/Pac Tech analyst Jasmine Lu all suggest 29-32M iPhone shipments,” Huberty told investors. She believes that strong demand for discounted iPhones have helped the iPhone’s figures for the quarter in question, with revenue and earnings both on course to exceed the Wall Street consensus forecast, with $36 billion as compared to the consensus forecast of $35.1 billion. However, she also thinks that the revenue figures for the third quarter will most likely be somewhat lower than current estimates.
