According to a new report from Kantar Worldpanel, via MacRumors, Apple’s iPhone X was one of the top three best-selling smartphones in December 2017 in “all key regions,” namely Europe, Japan, Australia, the United States, and China. Apple’s latest iPhone fared particularly well in China, where it was the best-selling smartphone overall in the holiday season.
Kantar said that while iOS market share fell by 0.5% to 43.9% in the US in the October to December 2017 period, iOS loyalty “reached a new high of 96 percent.”
With these results in mind, Kantar concluded that Apple’s staggered release of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X was a “sound” strategy, with the various multiple price points available appealing to a diverse a wide variety of consumers and therefore increase Apple’s smartphone share in key markets.
Overall, Kantar says that Apple’s iPhone X pricing strategy “seems to have been vindicated.”
