Iphone4 battery question

Does it hurt your battery to play games while it's charging?

I'm not sure my battery tends to get on the warm side when I play & charge at the same time.

I hope it doesn't cause I always charge and use my phone.

It shouldn't matter. I would say the only thing that for sure hurts your batter is for it to be plugged in forever and never discharged.

Normal lifecycle of battery is to charge then discharge which keeps it healthy. Keeping an iPhone or iPod plugged in constantly can ruin the lifespan of the battery.

I also doubt it would matter, listen to what baseman said though!

Apple also recommends you let the battery drop down to below 20% at least once a week.

Thanks guys for the response. I was just curious so i asked. I usually keep it on a charger while I sleep. Then take it off the charger until I hit 20-25%.

So let the battery die to 1% or 2% and charge it back up to 100% and disconnect it?

It won't hurt it. Your car battery charges while you're using it, doesn't it? Yeah, I know, different battery technologies, but same applies. Most people charge their laptops while using them too. The battery still charges, it just won't charge as quickly, or at the very least it will slow the rate of discharge. Take a GPS app, for instance....if you're going to be using it for any significant length of time you need to have it plugged into the charger, otherwise it's just too much drain on the battery. It will actually make the battery less likely to get too warm because it doesn't have to provide as much current. Where does the extra current come from? The charger.

One exception that I can think of would be if the charge on your battery is very low. You'd probably want to let the battery charge for a while before using it, although the circuitry that monitors the battery should protect it if it's working correctly.

Yes. maybe .Have some one told me this .But i always play game and use charge on for my Iphone 4

i am no expert, but i have read more than a few times in different forums that battery performance and lifespan is affected by the temperature. if it is too hot, it may affect the overall lifespan of your battery. i was looking for information regarding this when i was too concerned about my laptop's battery. so what i do is i take the battery out and plug my laptop to an outlet if i am just staying at the office or at home and dont need to be mobile, specially when i'm going to use it for a long period of time.

i think the same applies to the iphone. but then of course you cannot take the battery out. but if the unit gets hot, then it could affect the battery lifespan. but come on, enjoy your iphone and don't think about the battery that much. you can have it replaced if it gets too sloppy.
