is it necessary to "safely remove" the iphone like that of flash drive/harddisk

I know the usual practice of unplugging USB Flash drive or external hard drive should involve "safely remove" or would damage the data and hardware in some sense. Is there such thing in iPhone? Should I "safely remove" iPhone too from the computer? Thanks!

No damage to just unplug it.

Yes, just unplug it -- but only after it's through "synching!"
