9to5 Mac today has some pictures of what may well be the new iPhone, complete with a 4-inch edge-to-edge screen. The pictures may have been inadvertently leaked by the makers of SpeechTrans, who released them to promote their new SpeechTrans Ultimate Powered by Nuance app. Recent reports from people who have access to the iOS 5 beta have revealed that Nuances speech recognition software is integrated in iOS 5, so youd expect them to have plenty of top-secret shots of the new iPhone lying around, but SpeechTrans is a third party app and is not made by Nuance, so that makes the situation a little more mystifying. At the time of writing, the pictures of the iPhone with edge-to-edge screen are still up on the SpeechTrans Ultimate page on iTunes, which you can view by clicking here:
SpeechTrans Ultimate Powered By Nuance for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store. They might not be there much longer if this really is the iPhone 5. Then again, it could just be a cut-and-paste job on an iPhone 4, but worth checking out just in case they are real!
