Ok, I'm sure you guys have heard this a million times but here goes. Where do I go to get the programs to jailbreak my iPhone 4? What's the best way to do it and can it be done by a average guy like me? I've looked through here and saw a couple of screen shots that have been posted and they were badass! I want mine to look like that! I had a iPhone 4 and swapped to the HTC Inspire and what a piece of crap, now I'm back and want the best of both worlds if that's possible. My HTC was rooted and I had all the apps free but they were iffy about working. The apps would force close all the time. Will that happen I I jailbreak? Any help is greatly appreciated!

well firstly it is very easy to jailbreak but i am glad you came and asked as its always good to read up about it and make sure your using the right tools and doing things right so you dont mess up your phone and need to restore..

now i need to ask you what firmware your on? this can be found by tapping on settings general then about, next to version what does it say? 4.3.3? i ask because with some firmwares you need to use different tools, so i know what you will need to use and i can point you in the direction of a good tutorial and help you get those themes that you liked and other handy apps that will give you full use of your iphone !

4.3.3 is the IOS & 4.10.01 is the firmware.

4.10.01 is the baseband not the firmware...


so check the hacking section and there are tutorials for windows and mac users on how to jailbreak for the latest firmware 4.3.3

So what are the main advantages of jailbreaking? Is Cydia the only place you can get apps? When I jailbreak will I lose all my contacts, that happened when I rooted the other phone. P.I.T.A! Will I be able to update and keep the jailbreak? Sorry for all the questions but I don't want any suprises.

There is no suprises, you are not going to lose anything by jailbreaking, and you can download apps both from cydia and from the app store. But make sure you backup from time to time your phone on itunes.

Don't be sorry, I like it when I see people asking questions and making sure they fully understand the process and what they will get out of it instead of rushing into it not knowing what to do then having problems..,

So for jailbreak apps you would use cydia and you don't lose anything, all your doing is allowing your device to install any app and really customise your phone.

How to Guide to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 with Redsn0w 0.9.6rc15 (Untethered Windows)
Is this the article that your talking about? And what is untethered? Will I be able to use it as a wifi hotspot once this is done? If I can't figure it out there are a few guys on Craigslist that will do it for me for about $20, is there anything I should ask for when I call them? I know I want Cydia on here, is there anything else that I would need to get me going?

Yes that is the one, if you are on windows, jailbreaking is free never pay for it that is when you will end up with 10000 problems, jailbreaking is free and always will be. Just use the tutorial and you will be ok or if you don't feel ok to do it then watch a YouTube video so you get some idea of how it works

I have the folder made with the programs provided in the tutorial but the icons don ot look like the ones in the link. Is that a problem? Also I watched the video and I'm going to try this in the morning. I don't kow how long it takes but I have to leave for work in about a hour and I don't want to have to leave when it's not done. It defiatly look alot easier than rooting a android based phone.

While the iOS is jailbreaked the warranty is void. But just revet the iOS to factory by restoring it via itunes and your warranty is valid again.

No no, you will not lose your jailbreak, don't worry about that.
