A Verizon phone? Just use the latest version of snowbreeze to jailbreak it and that's it. You will be able to upgrade to iOS 5 once it is release to public without troubles.

Okey if you've use iTunes to upgrade your Verizon iphone to 4.2.8 I think that you can get the ipsw at this location on your computer:
You should first allow hidden file to be showed, you can clic organize >folder and search options. in the popup wondow clic on tab "view" then mark "show hidden files, folders and drives" when that's done go to
C: user > username(your comp user name) > appData > Roaming > apple computer > iTunes > iPhone Softwarw Updates. In that folder you will find your the ipsw which was downloaded by itunes and used by itunes to upgrade your iOS. you can copy, NOT CUT the ipsw to another location like to your desktop. You can then direct snowbreeze to that location "your desktop" to find the ipsw

On a mac computer :
Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iTunes/iPod Firmware

Good luck.

nah, not really, just want to be able to see the cydia apps as icons if possible

some cydia apps dont have icons just have settings, like for sbsettings to toggle it you just swipe your finger across the clock... but ones that do will automatically load onto the springboard so you dont need to make any icons unless you want to make a theme

awesome. Thank you for the help, loving being able to hack and get rid of what i dont want or need.
