what is it exactly and how do i do it, does it mean you can download apps free? how does it work?

jailbreaking gives the user the ability to install apps that apple do not approve of.

Depending on what firmware you are on you would need to use different tools.. tap on settings > general > about then tell me what it says next to Version.

We do not support cracked apps here so please do not ask.

version 4.2.1 , so they could be dangerous apps?

wait when you say "free apps" do you mean free paid app store apps or just random apps?..

if you mean random apps then there are plenty and they are safe..

version 4.2.1 you can use greenpois0n.com to jailbreak tutorial found here: http://www.iphoneforums.net/forum/i...n0w-mac-windows-iphone-ipod-touch-ipad-10384/

or you can update to 4.3.2 and jailbreak that also using this tutorial http://www.iphoneforums.net/forum/i...n0w-mac-windows-iphone-ipod-touch-ipad-11131/

how long does it take to jailbreak and i just mean any apps that are in the app store.

oh, then the app store apps just use app store ;)

and it takes around 5 minutes if you dont know what your doing and doing it for the first time.. maybe 10 if your slow lol.. once your used to it you do it in about 2 minutes

and it means you can download aps free? and how does it happpen , the apps are just suddenly free? ha

you can download tweaks and other useful apps to customise your iphone from cydia.. its like app store but for jailbreakers.. where do you think apple got the idea for app store before 2.0 was released?;)

not all apps are free in there though, some really good tweaks and useful apps to have cost $

just so you know, talk of downloading paid for app store apps for free is not allowed here. so dont ask about it because it will result in threads deleted so its better to just avoid that topic.

thank you :)

I used to have a jailbroken phone. I did it for a few reasons:
1) Install my own apps that I've written
2) Get a video recording app (this was before one came with iOS 4)
3) Copy music and files to the phone wirelessly (or download songs from the web)

However, after jailbreaking the device was less stable and had more frequent problems. I don't recommend jailbreaking unless you're a tinkerer and want to play with the inner workings of the device.

really? stability has never been any worse for me out of all the times i jailbroke since 2007 battery life has gone down with some of the apps i have downloaded though which sucks but its worth it
