Do a search for top 5 or 10 cydia apps to get some ideas. My favourites are,
Winterboard - Custom themes
SBsetings - Has many features including quick access to settings and hide unused icons
OpenSSH - Wireless file transfer between your phone and computer
WeBe++ - Extra Bluetooth control. Use your iPhone as a Bluetooth keyboard, ps3 or even as a wii controller

watch out in the news section because phil does announce some very good must have apps for cydia..
ones i would recommend are..
Action menue with Celeste - ability to send/receive files with bluetooth
Barrel - changes the way icons scroll from the screen
Winterboard - themes
AppInfo - lists all your apps in a txt file to send to ppl
Animate - animated boot logos
colourKeyboard - allows you to mix and match colours and have them on your keyboard
Cydelete - It allows you to delete cydia apps like app store ones
Freesync - allows you to use your iphone wil it syncs with itunes
InfiniDocks/Folders - allows u to have as many apps as you want in folders and the dock
MySrings - allows you to change all the messages like slide to unlock..etc
FakeCarrier - allows you to change the carrier name
Safari download manager - allows you to download from safari
Ifilie - directory of your iphone from your iphone
OpenSSH allows you to ssh from any computer
Terminal - i would advise it if you use openssh to change the default password
insomnia - allows the internet to work while locked
AptBackup - a free way to backup all your cydia apps
pkgbackup - a non free way to back them up

Very simple way: ssh is just like a navigation method inside your iOS just like the way u can navigate on your computer.
No crack app discussion is allowed on the forum, if u don't mind reading through the forum rules.
