Keyboard Shortcuts not working

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3 (up-to-date).

My keyboard shortcuts have recently stopped working.

I had noticed that for a while they were hit and miss - sometimes they'd work, sometimes they wouldn't. Now they just never seem to work.

It's annoying because I have several programmed in.

Spellcheck still works.

Any help / advice much appreciated.
