9to5 Mac reports today on a new note to investors from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in which he offers more details about Apple’s 2018 iPhone line-up. In particular, Kuo has more details about the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone that he thinks Apple will be releasing alongside 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED phones.
Kuo says that this new LCD iPhone will have a similar design to the current iPhone X, including an edge-to-edge screen, but will be much more competitively priced at around $699, as a replacement for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
According to Kuo, Apple will be able to achieve this lower price point by using slightly less expensive components that in the current iPhone line-up, replacing the stainless steel frame with aluminium, for example. However, because the phone will still resemble a high-end iPhone, Kuo thinks that the cheaper price point will cause it to be Apple’s most popular iPhone in 2018, with sales of around 100 million units.
