Length of time for custom text alert

Greetings Everyone,

I just upgraded from the 3GS to the 5 and am getting the hang of all the new stuff and I have a question about creating a custom text alert and was hoping some one could help me. I created a custom ringtone and in doing so I knew it had to be a t least 27 seconds in length in order to work. Is this the same for the text alerts? If not, hoe long do they have to be? The reason I ask is that the sounds in question are only a second and a half long. Thanks.

Technically all tones can be 40 seconds in length. But it is recommend to keep tones at 30 seconds or less due to load times.

You can use any custom tone for a text tone. So yes, you can use a 27 second tone for your text alerts.
