Mail count incorrect

Hi all,

I am 2 days into my iPhone 4s having come from Android. I am sure there is an obvious answer to my question but as of now it is eluding me. The mail unread count bubble on the mail icon is consistently incorrect. For instance, it will show 8 in the bubble but when I open the app it will have 2 or 3 unread emails. Is it counting unread emails in trash too?

Did you set up exchange emails? are you having folders like spams, trash where some messages go to? If you are able to see all the folders of you email on your phone, go into the one by one and let them all load completely. You can also open your email account on your computer and make sure that all email are marks as read and then come back to your iPhone and refresh it.

I have Gmail set up and also exchange (that was the only way I could see all my contacts). I went through all the folders and let them load. A few minutes later I received another email notification and the unread count said "8". When I opened he mail app I actually had 4 new emails, 60 in Trash and 1 in All Mail.

Aha, I figured it out! I had my exchange and Gmail both set up to check for mail so it would pull them both. That is also why the unread count would show exactly twice the email I had. I just changed the exchange account to not check for mail Glad this was an easy fix!
