I have several email accounts on my jail broken 4S When I tap mailboxes, then under the Accounts section I tap my Gmail account, I see the same thing as you've posted.

If I tap the Inbox, I open a new screen which displays all of the mail in my Gmail inbox.

I hope this is helpful.

It doesn't help LoL. When I log into gmail on my laptop those messages are not in my inbox. This is why I am so confused!

I've found that when I get junk mail and I swipe to delete the message instead of opening and then deleting it will put it in the all mail folder as unread. When your gmail is setup as an exchange it doesn't delete like one would think it should. It puts an archive copy in all mail and then deletes it. My guess is your problem is somehow related to this.

I try to once a month go in on my computer and clean out the all mail folder just to tidy things up. Then again I have been accused of being terribly OCD.

There is an all mail folder on gmail website? That will make it easier to delete. Thanks so much! Yes I don't open things I don't need to see so that makes sense!

On a related note, if you don't want deleted messages to go to the All Mail folder there is a setting you can change. Go to Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calendar->Gmail and slide Archive Messages to off. I found this saved me the trouble of deleting messages twice to fully get rid of them. Of course in doing this you lose your safety net if you were to mistakenly delete a message.

That's only if you have it set up as Gmail, doesn't have that option when setup as exchange.

Thank you. Yeah I have it set as an exchange to sync my contacts and calendar too!
