Major crashes with 5.1

After updating software tomipad and iPhone 4, the iPad runs great. The iphone4 is having multiple issues all having to do with contacts. I cannot add a new contact, no + sign/ can't add new contact through email, it crashes, can't enter letters in the "to" box in emails without it crashing. My job depends on me making phone calls and I can only call,from favorites list! Also in settings under cloud, I can get everything checked except,for,contacts, it says connecting then it says it can't I don't know where to go,from here since I have no backups to fall back on cuz its a new update, I tried to restore but it says NO because it's different software.

Any help please?!?
