On Monday, MasterCard became the latest financial company to advertise its support for Apple Pay using a TV spot. The commercial above is part of MasterCard's "Priceless Surprises" campaign, which gives MasterCard holders a change to win prizes by using their cards with Apple Pay.
Surprisingly, the ad features Gwen Stefani firing off a cannon, shooting prizes from the campaign to unsuspecting cardholders. Possible prizes include a chance to win cold-hard cash, "golf experiences", concert tickets, and a chance to meet Gwen Stefani. MasterCard issued a statement why they chose Gwen Stefani for this campaign:
"Gwen Stefani's personal brand, consumer appeal and sheer energy are what make her an ideal partner to serve as an ambassador for our Priceless Surprises platform," said Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing officer, MasterCard. "This platform has really taken hold and is inspiring a movement of Priceless Surprises whereby we're providing unexpected surprises to our cardholders and in turn they are sharing surprises with others in their lives. With Gwen's help we hope to further this movement."
