Hi,
I have a new iphone 4. When I sync with iTunes (mac computer and apple address book), some of the contacts are missing, even if I use the 'replace contacts on this iPhone' option. Anyone got any ideas?!!

What contacts are missing? Is it an entire group or just a random few?

Be sure you have all your contacts in address book on you Mac.

Get a google contacts account. Back up contacts on iTunes to google. Then go to settings/mail, contacts calendars and choose Microsoft Exchange. This will sync your contacts by air whenever you manually add a contact on your iPhone. You won't need iTunes to sync contacts anymore.

With iOS 5 right around the corner I really think you should just try and make it work apple's way. I have synced with my gmail account and I did not like how nothing correctly matched up.

Only a random few are missing, always the same ones

It seams like a cache issue or an issue with a group/account not syncing, try this

Backup your phone
Try exporting all you contacts out of address book
Reimport contacts into address book (just to be sure they all got exported and backed up)
Delete all your contacts out of address book
Sync and force the 0 contacts to your phone
You should have no contacts on you phone
Import all your contacts & force sync to your phone
Cross your fingers and look if the contacts synced

Also be sure your OS X software is all up to date before this also turn off contacts for any of the mail accounts on you phone before doing this

I tried looking for how to reset the address book cache but had no luck, I also did not look very hard but this could fix the issue.

I also just realized I assumed you are on a Mac, im sorry for you if your running windows, but that's your problem
