I have just taken delivery of a new iPhone 5 but as a visually impaired person I have relaised I nave to establish one important thing before I avtivate it: When texting, I have just learned that it is impossible to convert the keyboard to multitap mode, if that is the correct term. I know there is a zoom feature and the keyboard can be used in landscape oriemtation, but the idea of fewer and bigger keys appeals to me, even though it means foregoing the full Qwerty layout.

I was wodnering if there was an app so that I could convert the keyboard to multitap on the IPhone 5, where thre are fewer keys all with several letters on them.

Does such an app exist?

Thankyou,

This app is not included in the list under that link - does that mean it is not legitimate
?

I am new to Apple and not sure how they work - do all apps have to be official Apole ones?

How woukd these keyboard apps work - do you have to launch the app each time you text, or can you set them up to launch automatcially, as the deafult mode of texting?

No, that list I provided was just a sample. There are plenty out there - and none are "official." The only official thing about apps is that they must be purchased through the AppStore (where they'd been vetted and approved by Apple). So, if you like the looks of the one in the link you have - go for it; try it out.

You have to launch the app and type your text message. Then, you'll have to copy and paste the message into the regular Message app. Each app will be different in how you get what you wrote over to the Message app. The one thing they share is that it will be impossible to use the keyboard as the default (as in, it will launch automatically) - you cannot replace the default keyboard and it will always be the keyboard displayed in Apple's default apps.

Thankyou. It would be useful to be able to try it out, buit of course I dontl have that option without activating the SIM, which ties me in to the contract.
