Ok, the quick details, I have a 3gs with firmware 4.0 and bootrom 4.26.08
It is factory unlocked so i'm not worried about that.
It is jailbroken, but my bluetooth doesn't work, I can turn it on, but it doesn't ever find anything.
I'm fairly certain is has something to do with the jailbreak that is on it. I didn't jailbreak it so I don't know.

So my question is, can I chance firmware versions or use a different jailbreak to get my bluetooth to work without losing any other functionality?

That's not a bootrom number. It looks like a baseband. The 3GS bootrom numbers are either 359.3 or 359.3.2 or higher.

You will need to find out which bootrom you have to find out if you can get the untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak or not...

Ok, so I figured out how to check the boot rom and I do have 359.3 which I was pretty sure it was since I already have an untethered jailbreak on there.
Do I have any options that will allow me to get my bluetooth working?

What exactly is wrong with your Bluetooth? Remember iPhones can't connect to other devices to send files like other phones.

Since your on the early bootrom I would just upgrade to 4.2.1 in iTunes then jailbreak using redsnow. It will be untethered. Check your Bluetooth before jailbreaking to see if the restore fixed the problem...
