Here's another teaser story from our guest writer, Radu. The iPhone 5 is launching today so were finally going to find out if the rumors about Apple introducing a smaller 9-pin dock connector will turn out to be true. Whats more, a new report has surfaced that claims the port will enjoy compatibility with the new USB 3.0 version. The information is supported by the fact that Macbook lines have all been given the USB 3.0. makeover. If true, users will have no problem transitioning to the new port standard.
We sure hope the rumors are correct, because USB 3.0 surely means increased speed with over 5 Gbps when handling data. Compared to the average USB 2.0 the speed increases ten times. Actual experiments have been performed in order to prove the higher power of the USB 3.0. MacNN tried to move 20 GB of MP3 and AAC files using both the USB 3.0 and the USB 2.0. What they found was that the USB 3.0 managed to complete the task in 11 minutes and 57 seconds while the USB 2.0 did the same in 41 minutes and 8 seconds. Thats a huge improvement.
