New iphone 3gs - Unlocking Help

Hi Guys,

Can I unlock my iphone 3gs with out any risk? Apple techie guy suggested me to Do not try to unlock the phone for now.. the latest unlocking software (jaibrk or redsnow) package is not in market for now.

All latest iphone's are secure serial numbers base. Is it true? If yes, Find my serial number and can any one suggest me when I can unlock the my phone.

You can do a tethered Redsn0w jailbreak and unlock using the SAM method if you want.
