MacRumors reports that new photos have appeared online that are purported to be of a battery for the forthcoming iPhone 7. The images, which were originally published by Chinese site Digi.tech.qq.com, show a battery with a capacity of 7.04 watt-hours, which is almost the same as that of the iPhone 6 (7.01 watt-hours) and a little more than that of the iPhone 6s (6.61 watt-hours).
Also reporting on the story, AppleInsider said that the original report also said, somewhat bizarrely, that the iPhone 7 will have a ceramic body. This would be a huge change for Apple, with previous iPhones usually being made out of metal, glass and plastic.
Other ceramic phones include HTC’s 2012 One S, which was claimed to be prone to chipping, hence HTC not using that material after that one attempt.
Apple has also previously filed patents for ceramic iPhones, so the rumour is possibly not quite as outlandish as it might initially appear.
