Yesterday we saw an image of what looked to be the next generation Pebble smartwatch, set to release in 2015. The leaked image was quickly taken off the Pebble website and replaced with a photo of someone's wrist with an actual pebble rock on top.

It seems the leak nudged Pebble to unveil the Pebble Time on Tuesday with a Kickstarter campaign. The Pebble Time is exactly what we saw from the leak. The future smartwatch promises a color e-paper display, 7 hours of battery life, and more.

What's more interesting are the records the watch is setting on Kickstarter. Initially the team set out to hit a goal of $500,000. Within 20 minutes that goal was met. 34 minutes after launching, the campaign was at $1 million, then $2 million in under an hour.

At the time of this writing, the campaign is sitting around $6.5 million dollars, it's only been running a few hours. All of the information regarding the new watch can be found on the Kickstarter page, with the least expensive pledge goal tethered to receiving a Pebble Time being $179.
