Newer version of iTunes

I often get a message on my laptop telling me to download a newer version of iTunes into my iPhone. I am skeptical to do this as I fear that all the stored information on my phone would get deleted. Any suggestions?

It'll be fine. The newer version of iTunes will install right over the old version. You won't lose any of your apps or backups. So, upgrade your iTunes - it's cool.

+1 upgrades are safe more stability and features with newer versions
