2K Sports has announced that NHL 2K11 is out today, August 24th, for the iPhone and iPod touch, making it the first licensed NHL game to appear on the Apple handhelds. The game features a brand new control system that has been designed from the ground up, featuring animations and graphics taken from the console version, and fully realised season, shootout and free skate modes of play. Fans can make trades and sign free agents as they take their favourite teams and players all the way to the Stanley Cup in Season Mode, as well as jumping into practice and quick game modes to polish their skills using the intuitive control scheme. 2K Sports says that it also plans to provide regular updates throughout the season to ensure the gameplay experience stays fresh and current.
To celebrate the games launch, it will be on offer here in the Apple iTunes App Store at the discounted price of $1.99/£1.19 for the first week, which really is a bargain, especially as it's already getting some really great scores and comments in the App Store. And, theres also a free Lite version available.
